A rash of murders in Westmoreland over the past six days, claiming the lives of three men, has left law enforcers busy as they seek to quell the blood thirst in the parish, which is under the cloak of a State of Emergency. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two persons, including a woman, have been held by the police\nin connection with two of the killings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims are 22-year-old security guard, Owayne Gardener,\notherwise called \u2018Own\u2019 of Dalling Street, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland and\nKensington, Welcome Hall St. James, Rohan Daley, also called \u2018Papa\u2019, of a\nDarliston, Westmoreland address and 27-year-old Kemar Williams, labourer of\nProspect district, Burnt Savannah, also in the parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the most recent of the incidents, which occurred on\nSaturday, the Savanna-la-Mar police report are that about 1:30 p.m., Gardener\nwas at home with his girlfriend and children when he used an object to hit his\ngirlfriend\u2019s three-year-old son in his chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The child was later taken to his father and reportedly\ncomplained to him that Gardener had hit him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The child\u2019s father, accompanied by another man, came to\nGardener\u2019s house and confronted him. A dispute ensued, during which one of the\nmen pulled a firearm and shot Gardener in the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both men made their escape on foot in the area.  Gardener, in the meantime, was assisted to\nthe Savanna-la-Mar General Hospital by residents, where he died whilst\nundergoing treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police report that a suspect was held in connection with\nGardener\u2019s killing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Williams was killed during a domestic dispute\nbetween himself and his girlfriend on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STABBED BY GIRLFRIEND<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police reports are that Williams was at home with his\ngirlfriend when an altercation developed between them. It escalated into a\nfight and a knife was brought into play, which the woman used to stab Williams\nin the upper body. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was transported to the Savanna-la-Mar General Public\nHospital, where he was pronounced dead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman was subsequently taken into custody. However, her\nname is being withheld pending further investigations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Western Mirror<\/strong> subsequently learnt that Williams\nwas always beating upon the woman, who did not retaliate until now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MOBBED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Daley, who had featured several times on the\nWestmoreland police\u2019s radar in connection with several shootings and robberies\ncommitted in the parish, was bludgeoned to death by an angry mob who accused\nhim of attempting to rob – and shot and injured a bus driver on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports indicate that about 9p.m., as the driver disembarked\nfrom the bus at his home, he was held at gunpoint by Daley, who demanded money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver reportedly started to run, but was shot and\ninjured by Daley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An alarm was raised and residents who became aware of the\nincident rounded up a mob which set upon Daley and bludgeoned him to death. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police have not taken anyone into custody in relation to\nDaley\u2019s death. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
