{"id":3298,"date":"2020-01-15T21:53:07","date_gmt":"2020-01-15T21:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=3298"},"modified":"2020-01-15T21:53:08","modified_gmt":"2020-01-15T21:53:08","slug":"businessman-killed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=3298","title":{"rendered":"Businessman Killed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Craig Oates<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Murder figures have begun to climb in the parish of Hanover with the killing of a businessman on Monday, sending shockwaves across the fishing village of Sandy Bay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deceased is 50year-old Donavon Coslay of Big Well,\nLucea, Hanover, whose death brings to two the number of persons killed in the\nparish since the start of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports are that Coslay was sitting at the entrance of his\nbusiness place, a meat shop located at a plaza in Sandy Bay, when he was\napproached by two men armed with guns who opened fire at him.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coslay reportedly ran into his shop and tried to close the\ndoor behind him, but the men followed and shot him several times before\nescaping on foot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was later transported to the Noel Holmes Hospital, where\nhe was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One resident who was at the scene, in the aftermath of the\nkilling, commented:&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIs wah really a gwaan? A just di odda day, dem shoot\nanother man right here. Dem man ya nuh easy and dem shooting yah a mek we get\nvery afraid.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coslay\u2019s death comes hot on the heels of the killing of\n43-year-old bus operator, Carl Amberley of Greenland, Lucea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports from the Lucea police are that shortly after 10p.m.,\nlast Wednesday night, Amberley had finished working for the day and parked his\nbus before sharing a drink with friends at a shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was reportedly approached by two men, one of whom\nexchanged harsh words with him. Both men brandished knives and stabbed him\nmultiple times. The men then fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officers from the Lucea Police Station, who were alerted,\nrushed to the scene and transported Amberley to the Noel Holmes Hospital, where\nhe was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hanover is one of three parishes in Western Jamaica under a\nState of Emergency, the others being Westmoreland and St. James. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Craig Oates Murder figures have begun to climb in the parish of Hanover with the killing of a businessman on Monday, sending shockwaves across the fishing village of Sandy Bay.
