{"id":3094,"date":"2019-10-02T21:22:11","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T21:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=3094"},"modified":"2019-10-14T18:34:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T18:34:00","slug":"marine-cop-in-deadly-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=3094","title":{"rendered":"Marine Cop in deadly crash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Barrington Flemming<\/strong> &#8211; Staff Reporter<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The cruel hands of fate dealt Shamara Maddan of Belmont, Westmoreland, a devastating blow early Monday morning when her life partner, 32-year-old district constable, Monir Maddan, died tragically as his motor vehicle crashed into a utility pole along the Paradise main road in the parish.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am numb. My best friend gone &#8211; this can\u2019t be happening, it is surreal.We were working on having children, we both wanted twins and we were in the process of purchasing a home at Savanna Park,\u201d shared a tearful Shamara Maddan, as she spoke in the aftermath of the tragedy which claimed the life of her husband. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports are that about 1:45 a.m., Maddan was driving a\nToyota Torneo motorcar along the Paradise main road when he lost control of the\nvehicle and crashed into a utility pole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police were summoned and with the help of the Jamaica Fire\nBrigade, Madden was removed from the vehicle. He was taken to the\nSavanna-la-Mar Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The young widow said upon hearing the news, she did not\nbelieve it, because her mind could not accept the thought of her husband, her\nlove, her rock &#8211; being dead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt felt like everything in my body stopped when I saw them\nput him on the ground. I was saying \u2018Please don\u2019t let him die\u2019\u201d, but her words\nwere too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe were the proverbial two peas in a pod. We have been\ntogether since 2012 and have been married for the past three years. We got\nmarried on my birthday, August 14, 2016, so we just celebrated our anniversary\njust over a month ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maddan, who was attached to the Marine Division of the\nJamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) in Westmoreland, started his service with the\nJCF in 2013, and has been described as a jovial, fun-loving person who got\nalong well with everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe would be the one to make everyone laugh and the people\nreally loved him. \u201c&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His father, Reverend Devon Maddan, who formerly served at\nthe Belmont Missionary Church, is said to be overwhelmed with grief as he is\nalways saying \u201cMonir is my favourite child\u201d.&nbsp;\n(Monir has three siblings one sister and two brothers). His mother lives\noverseas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am trying to cope &#8211; family and friends have been\nsupporting me well and members of the JCF have reached out to me, but there is\nthis awful feeling, this emptiness, I don\u2019t know what to do.&nbsp; I shared everything with him. Who am I to\nshare with now?
