{"id":2236,"date":"2019-03-11T19:31:54","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T19:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=2236"},"modified":"2019-03-11T19:31:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T19:31:58","slug":"naturals-mobile-tea-cart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=2236","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Natural\u2019s&#8217; Mobile Tea Cart"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>With the harsh economic times threatening to derail the lives of many Jamaicans, Stafford Llewllyn, popularly known as \u2018Natural\u2019, has refused to be gobbled up by the system of failure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 42-year-old father of five, who hails from Cornwall\nMountain in Sav-la-Mar, Westmoreland, but has since made a home in the Dumfries\narea of St. James for over 10 years, is a man determined to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Natural\u2019 is the owner and operator of the \u2018Tea Cart\u2019, a\nrare form of mobile food truck operated on a cart he pushes to and fro in and around\nMontego Bay, mainly between the Charles Gordon Market and the Western Mirror on\nCottage Road.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The broad-smiling man, who disclosed he only has a primary\nschool level education, says he has been doing this kind of job for the past\n15-plus years, a means he uses to care for his children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAah started out a long time ago. Me first use to sell\njuices till me said me wanted something different, something quicker, faster,\nsomething that would make make more money, so I decided to get a cart and do me\nlikkle ting\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a given day, one can stand around the cart and watch as a\nfried or boiled egg is prepared and served with either white or brown sliced\nbread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plantains (ripe and green), the national dish of ackee and\nsalt fish, along with callaloo, are also served from \u2018Natural\u2019s\u2019 cart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a hot beverage, one can pick, choose and refuse as the\nlikes of Milo, tea bags of various brands, ginger, mint and also coffee can be\nhad at the mobile cart, which houses a stove fuelled by gas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A popular figure with taxi operators, construction workers\nand others, \u2018Natural\u2019 says he hopes his meals can go a long way each day in\nsatisfying those who consume it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One customer who was at the cart when the Western Mirror\nchatted with \u2018Natural\u2019, said \u201cThe food is very good and somewhat of a\ndifference from the everyday dumplins, bananas and other foods served in the\nrestaurants.\u201d She also noted that it was nice to be able to see what is being\nlooked after then and there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt really good to see what you eating and how it prepared.\nPlus, it taste good and even if you trouble with pressure you can eat the salt\nfish, because it not too salt\u2026 it good, it really taste good,\u201d she said, biting\ndown on her callaloo sandwich.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the harsh economic times threatening to derail the lives of many Jamaicans, Stafford Llewllyn, popularly known as \u2018Natural\u2019, has refused to be gobbled up by the system of failure.
