{"id":2207,"date":"2019-02-27T18:10:05","date_gmt":"2019-02-27T18:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=2207"},"modified":"2019-02-27T18:10:08","modified_gmt":"2019-02-27T18:10:08","slug":"double-murder-rocks-norwood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/?p=2207","title":{"rendered":"Double murder rocks Norwood"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A case of reprisal seems to be the motive behind Friday\u2019s\nkilling of a man and a woman in Norwood, Montego Bay, St. James.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deceased are 49-year-old Assad Faceyand and 45-year-old\nMichelle Solomon, both of Norwood, St James<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports are that about 4:25 p.m. on Friday, the two, who operated a cook shop at the intersection of Top Road and Middle Road, were at work when they were pounced upon by a lone gunman who opened gunfire, hitting them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"485\" src=\"http:\/\/westernmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Assad-Facey.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Assad-Facey.jpg 500w, https:\/\/westernmirror.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Assad-Facey-300x291.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption><em>Assad Facey<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents who heard the uproar summoned the police who, upon\ntheir arrival, found the two business partners suffering from gunshot wounds.\nThey were assisted to the Cornwall Regional hospital, where they were\npronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the meantime, further information gleaned by this\nnewspaper suggests that a family feud could be behind the double murder, and\nmay be linked to the shooting and wounding of a man and woman in Norwood, just\nhours before on Thursday.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, one woman mourning Facey and Solomon\u2019s death and\nspeaking on condition of anonymity described them as a peaceful, kind and hard\nworkers, whom she and many in the community are missing terribly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe would be the last person to start war with anybody. He\nstarted out selling porridge and then soup, until him have the cook shop\nnow.&nbsp; I don\u2019t know why anyone would want\nto kill him. He was such a nice person,\u201d she said. \u201cMichelle was also a nice\nperson, good person, so I don\u2019t know what trigger all this violence, it is just\ntoo much for me right now, can\u2019t manage it at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Solomon\u2019s husband is reportedly beside himself\nwith grief, and has not stopped crying since Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A case of reprisal seems to be the motive behind Friday\u2019s killing of a man and a woman in Norwood, Montego Bay, St. James.
