FOX TV host in cultural cooking exchange at Tryall Club
International television host and writer Amy Hanten, will be the first in a series of visiting chefs at the Tryall Club in Hanover this year.
Amy, who has marveled at the culinary ingenuity of Jamaicans and the warmth of the people on the island, will also be vacationing at The Tryall Club and will engage in a cultural exchange in which recipes and cooking secrets will be shared.
On Monday, January 23, Amy will join Tryall’s executive and junior sous chefs Kai Bechinger and Milton McNish to get insightful preparation techniques on jerk chicken and learn the secret to making great jerk seasoning.
From there she will visit the Sugar Hill villa where Marika Dunn, the resident cook, will teach her the tricks of the trade in preparing the timeless tradition of rice and peas. But Amy won’t leave without trading a recipe, as such, she will prepare a Jamaica me Crazy trifle.
“I’m so excited to celebrate my 20th wedding anniversary at The Tryall Club! The Tryall Club has everything we’re looking for from tennis, to the beach, beautiful villas, and of course great food! I hope to bring back a few great Jamaican recipes and while I’m there I’ll even share one of my own, a tropical fruit trifle!” she said
Amy hosts a television show called Fox 11’s Living With Amy and recently published her first cookbook The Cooking Mom. She also has a fabulous blog called The Cooking Mom which runs the gamut of kitchen and cooking tips from recipes to the best products to use in the kitchen.
The Tryall Club looks forward to hosting Amy. According to Director of Guest Services Richard Ferdinand, “Tryall is committed to providing good food and the Taste of Tryall is a testament to the variety of culinary offerings here at Tryall. This year, we intend to showcase the cooking skills of our talented cooks and chefs through cooking classes for members and guests and to learn from visiting chefs who we will be hosting during the course of the year. We are very excited to have Amy as our first visiting cook”.
Renowned for its 18 hole golf course, The Tryall Club is one of the most exclusive gated resorts on the island. The club has over 80 chefs (one for each villa), who participate in the annual Taste of Tryall where they showcase some of their very best dishes.
