ANCHOVY MEADOWS YET TO RECOVER
Close to 50 persons from 12 families are still reeling from the impact of Tropical Storm Nicole as they have had to be seeking shelter from friends and other family members in Anchovy Meadows, St. James.
This reporter visited the community on Monday and was surprised at the number of houses that were flooded.
Violet Reid, a returning resident and owner of one of the houses which was affected by the flood waters, said that she was at home last week when persistent rains caused the water to rise, flooding her house.
They were forced to evacuate, managing to save only a few items on their way out. This writer observed that most of the split level houses have the entire bottom floor submerged.
They anxiously await whatever assistance they can get from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) or their Member of Parliament, Derrick Kellier.
